Clothes in Frankfurt
- Daily Life
Although there are no strict dress codes in this city, just like anywhere else in the world, in Frankfurt the appropriate way of dressing usually depends on one's job and the weather. That is why it may be a good idea to take some light and mid-season clothes for the summer and warm clothes for winter. Taking along a raincoat is also recommended, regardless of the time of year.
Although fashion isn't as big an issue as it is in say, France, Germans have managed to shake that image of people who are totally in the dark when it comes to fashion; and no doubt that designers such as Jil Sander, Karl Lagerfeld and Joop have something to do with that.
And of course, don't expect anybody to be walking around in the famous traditional dress: that type of clothing is left as costumes to be used in regional cultural events and ceremonies and is usually not worn in everyday life situations.
