Goethe House and Museum
Typical of the residential bourgeoisie culture of the late
Baroque Period, the house where poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
was born in 1749, is worth the visit not only because of its
celebrated dweller, but also because it offers an interesting
insight into what the typical lifestyle was like in the 18th
Century. Although the pieces of furniture are not originals,
each room has tried to be restored in as close a resemblance
to the originals as possible.
Close to the House is the Goethe Museum, with
an attractive gallery of pictures exclusively featuring Goethe's
era. There are also works by important German artists of all
eras, ranking from the late Baroque Period through to the
Sturm und Drang movement, the Classic and Romantic
Periods until the times of the Biedermeier style.
When taking your German

Goethe House and Museum and get an insight into the life and
