Palm Garden (Palmengarten)
The 'Palm Garden' (Palmengarten) was founded in 1868
by the people of Frankfurt. The botanic collection was essentially
made up of a series of tropical plants that were bought from
the Nassau dukedom. In order to house these plants, a Palm
house was built, made of steel and glass, resembling a tropical
jungle. The 29 hectares of outdoors facilities and 10,000m2
of covered surface area of the 'Palm Garden' are among one
of the most frequently visited Botanical Gardens in Europe.
Today, the old Palm house holds subtropical
flora. The tropicarium shows eight biotope communities from
dry and humid tropical regions. Great collections of plants,
palms, orchids, pineapples, cactuses and insectivore plants,
azaleas and camellias as well as Fuchsias form a part of the
rich diversity of this garden.

gardens during your stay in Frankfurt for a German
