Probably the best-known sports team belonging to Spain's capital is the Real Madrid soccer team. Soccer here is by far the most popular of all sports... although bullfighting is also a great favorite. Few know that the Real Madrid sports club also boasts a basketball team with several talented players. Soccer games are held in the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

The Club, founded in 1902, built its first stadium in 1912. That same stadium was continually enlarged so that today it seats over 77 000 spectators. The Stadium is also used for big events such as concerts.
