Weather in Madrid
The climate in Madrid is fairly pleasant. However, in the middle of an especially hot summer when heat settles on the city, temperatures can get as high as 40º C. During this time most of the locals leave town for their summer vacations at the seaside while tourists fill the streets of Madrid.
Spring and autumn here are quite short compared to other countries and the highest rainfall occurs during winter months. While most of Spain’s holiday destinations boast a mild Mediterranean climate, Madrid has more of a continental climate. The city’s altitude, 665 metres above sea level, explain the cold winters.
The best times of the year to travel to Madrid would definitely be during the spring and autumn months. This way you avoid the wet winters and the hot summers.
