Tourism in Los Angeles
Los Angeles is a great place to visit. The city is near beaches, mountain ranges, deserts and world-famous theme parks, such as Disneyland. There is no shortage of activities and fun to be had in the city of Los Angeles. No matter what you’re looking to get out of your trip, you can find it in LA. Enjoy the nature of the nearby parks and recreational areas or stay in the city for cultural events, concerts, shopping or to watch a professional sports game.
While the list of things to see and do is practically endless for the Los Angeles area, here are a couple of our favorite attractions:
- Laguna Beach - One of the most famous beaches in America. Take a day -or more- to enjoy this beautiful beach. While there you can do whatever you like. Lay in the sand from sun rise until dark, eat at exquisite restaurants, dance at world famous clubs or browse the shopping centers!
- Hollywood - It’s one word that carries a lot of meaning in every language, Hollywood. Once you enter the Hollywood area, you should be ready from anything to happen. You’ll dine and shop among you favorite world famous celebrities. Stroll the star studded streets and see where some of your all-time favorite movies were made!
Geography and Climate
The city of Los Angeles in surrounded by the San Gabriel Mountains, Angeles National Forest and the Santa Monica Mountains. Having such magnificent naturally beautiful sites nearby the city allow for quick camping, hiking or fishing trips. It’s not all mountains and forest though, in and around Los Angeles there are 18 beaches.
Temperatures in Los Angeles are ideal year round for visiting a city. Even in the middle of winter, average temperature don’t fall below 9 degrees Celsius (49F) and can be as warm as 21C (69F). The spring and fall the temperatures are about the same ranging from 12C (54F) to 23C (73F). LA summers can become quite warm at 29C (84F) but luckily there are plenty of beaches nearby for a quick swim to cool off.
Culture in Los Angeles
Sure Los Angeles is known for its sunshine, movies and celebrities, but the city also offers world class museums, operas, theaters, music and a rich and vibrant Arts community. The Getty Center and the LACMA are a few of the more popular museums of the city. The Geffen Playhouse and Ahmanson Theaters are very popular for dramas, comedies and even musicals.
If you’re looking for music , you’ve definitely found the right place. Los Angeles has everything from Polka to Hip Hop. The city is filled with many small clubs and concert halls that will host world famous and local talent acts. When in LA, one should definitely check out the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Opera and/or the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
Los Angeles is truly a diverse city with an unlimited amount of cultural events to offer on any given day or night!
Sport in Los Angeles
Like many of the other major American cities, Los Angeles is the home to several professional sports teams. Los Angeles, being the exciting city that it is, always offers a contender come the end of the season, regardless of which sport. While in town be sure to check out a LA Dodgers baseball game or see the LA Galaxy play in a Major League soccer match. Other popular Los Angeles sports teams include the LA Lakers and LA Clippers in basketball, LA Kings in hockey, and UCLA and USC in college football.
If you’re interested in playing sports yourself, there is plenty of opportunities for that in LA too! You can, skate, kayak, fish, golf, bike, surf, swim, hike and much more!
Shopping in Los Angeles
Los Angeles has perhaps the most diverse shopping in the entire US! There is everything from humungous shopping malls to corner store boutiques. There is an endless supply of new places to go, ensuring your shopping experience to be a successful one!
It is pretty much impossible to go to Los Angeles and not enter a shopping mall. A few of the best known and popular ones include the Hollywood & Highland mall, Grove and the Beverly Center.
