Cooking Courses in Calabria

Are you interested in learning about the delicious Mediterranean cuisine at your destination in addition to taking an Italian course there? We offer different cooking courses in a wonderful Mediterranean atmosphere at our cooking school “Arte Culinaria” in Santa Domenica di Ricadi, 3 km south of Tropea.

A varied, seasonal shopping basket determines what’s on the menu. Under professional guidance, course participants create wonderful multi-course meals. Our courses are great fun, too! Furthermore, your individual needs will be considered during all the cooking courses. No knowledge of Italian is required for them.

Course participants also get a written copy of the delicious recipes so that they can use them for their next Italian dinner at home. Surprise your friends and family with home-made Saltimbocca or special pasta creations! You can choose from 4 different courses.

Lessons are held 4 days a week, and there are 3 lessons per day (making 12 lessons per week).

Basics Week "Settimana Base"

Settimana Base Cooking Course

During this course you would learn the basics of Italian – and, in particular, Calabrian – cooking. From the preparation of Italian antipasti and hearty pasta dishes to delicious meat and fish dishes. There’s something for every taste! This cooking course would give you the chance to take a bit of the Italian zest for life back home with you after your holiday, because you could cook the recipes you learned at home again and again! Pasta & Risotto Week

Pasta & Risotti Cooking Course

Pasta and risotto are arguably the most important components of Italian cuisine. People around the world know and love Italian pasta and rice dishes. Naturally, Calabria has unique, regional specialties which you would learn how to prepare during this cooking course. Do you know the secret to homemade pasta? Fish & Shellfish Week

Fish & Shellfish Cooking Course

Our cooking school is located very near the sea. Explore the wonderful world of fish, crustaceans and shellfish, and enjoy the fresh seafood specialties of the Calabrian coast during the week! This cooking course also covers the important techniques of fish preparation, such how to scale a fish and identify fresh fish types, and which sorts of fish are suitable for poaching, grilling or frying. Snacks & Hearty Meals Week

Snacks & Hearty Meals Cooking Course

Italians, too, enjoy eating small snacks to keep them going as well as carefully prepared nibbles – and not just at parties. Different ways of cooking eggplant, stuffed pumpkin blossoms, stuffed rice balls, and other small but delicious morsels are just a few examples of Italian creativity when it comes to snacking.
