Student
residences are fairly common in Germany , as they form the
soul of university life. Options include either a small room
with an independent kitchen and bathroom o a small house or
flat with several rooms and a shared kitchen and bathroom.
There are also many halls and other facilities: party halls
( Partyraum ) to organize residence parties in, libraries,
university restaurants, bars and chapels.
The
atmosphere in these residences is very pleasant with a studious
aura about them: silence is important in order to allow for
concentration. Furthermore the prices of these student residences
are very affordable (compared to the cost of renting an apartment,
which is considerably higher). However it is quite difficult
to get a place in these residences and it is best to begin
arranging such accommodation as soon as possible.
