German History

The Stone Age

In times known as the Stone Age, a sparse population of hunters and gatherers roamed the forests and land of what is today known as Germany. These humans were actually part of the very earliest forms of Homo sapiens that walked the Herat around 400,000 years ago.

These primitive humans mingled with others, from the regions of south-west Asia, while migrating into Germany and thus new cultures developed. These hunters and gatherers gradually settled in the Danube Valley, forming villages, breeding stock and raising crops. They evolved, constructing wooden shelters, making pottery and establishing trade with people from the Mediterranean.
