Reasons
for learning Spanish
If
you are going to take a vacation, work or study in a Spanish-speaking
country, being able to communicate in the same language does
come quite in handy.
- Spanish is spoken in Spain, on the Caribbean Islands (Cuba and Puerto Rico), in the Dominican Republic, in Central America (Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama) and in South America (Colombia, Venezuela, Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador). Spanish is also the second most widely spoken language in the United States.
- It may also be just what you need to develop your career; you may even be working for a Spanish or Latin American company in your own country. In that case, speaking reasonable Spanish would make you a highly valued asset to your company.
- Another good reason for learning Spanish is getting in touch with a language with a long cultural tradition; learning Spanish will allow you to step into the world of Cervantes, Gracilazo de la Vega, Adolfo Bequer, Picasso, Diego Velásquez, Antoni Gaudí, Granados, de Feller. and Spanish film directors such as Carlos Saura, Julio Medem and Pedro Almodóvar. And why not enjoy typical Mexican music with the mariachis?
