Regions of Spain

Navarre

Navarre with its capital city Pamplona, is situated on the French border and is famous especially due to the San Fermin festival - when for a whole week in July (7 to 14) each year the bull runs are held. Bulls run through the streets of this medieval city with Spaniards running daringly in front of them. This otherwise quiet area of Spain is also known for its beautiful natural parks and lush green countryside, ideal for fishing, mountain climbing and hiking.

This region, with such varied landscape, has been described as a 'miniature continent'. To match the varied landscape, the architecture also offers an incredibly extensive range of styles.

Pamplona is also known as Iruna and its most central point is Plaza del Castillo, built in 1847 and once the city's bullring. A popular place to visit is Calle Estafeta, lined with endless bars and restaurants, with constantly thriving activity. Another of Pamplona's main attractions includes the Camino de Santiago (Saint James' Way), listed among UNESCO's World Heritage Sites.
