Valencia

The Valencian Community, with its capital in Valencia is one of Spain's largest and liveliest regions. An ideal holiday destination, this region lies directly on the Mediterranean Sea, with over 500 km of coastline. The great Mediterranean climate complement the golden beaches perfectly.

This region is full of reminders of past civilizations that once dwelled here, such as the Greeks, Iberians, Phoenicians and Romans. Traces of the Moors have also been left behind especially in the traditional handcrafts produce here, as well as the extensive rice fields and orange groves. The region is one of the most fertile in Spain, which is why it is often referred to as the country's 'bread basket'.

Valencia is made up of three provinces, Valencia (capital), Alicante and Castellón; all are extremely picturesque with great sights and monuments that tell of the past - Valencia is ideal for cultural enthusiasts; the harbour city, Alicante, is the region's second largest city and features the Moorish castle Castillo de Santa Barabara; the Santa Maria cathedral is one of Castellón's most important buildings.
