Cost of Living
If England is expensive, the prices are exorbitant in London. Inside the capital you will need at least approximately 35 euros a day to survive (housing, public transportation for a day ... etc). A single sightseeing attraction or going out at night could itself cost about 25 euros.
And if your stay is at a hotel and you plan to eat in a restaurant, you should calculate about 90 euros per day or more.
On the outskirts of London life is not as expensive (in particular the public transport) and around 30 euros could be sufficient. If you get a Bed & Breakfast (just renting a room with breakfast) and eat once a day at the restaurant, your stay will most likely cost around 70 euros per day.
Traveler's Checks and Currency
In the UK you willl have no problem changing your traveler's checks at the bank, and it's more advisable to change them at the bank to pounds since the commissions tend to be high especially in the city. You should also take into account that at airports the commission fees are also high.
ATMs accept all kinds of credit cards such as VISA, Cirrus, Plus or Maestro, which are the most used.
Tipping
In restaurants do not forget to leave a tip of at least 10%, except in special cases. In England the service in hotels is not very well paid and for this reason everyone assumes a tip of about 10%. In some restaurants the tip is already included in the price and thus tipping is not mandatory. If you want to take a taxi you must also remember to leave a tip of at least 10%.
