Visa for Italy

Visa Italy

European Union citizens planning to travel to Italy do not need any special documentation. However, nationals of other countries must meet other requirements as explained below.

As we said before, European Union citizens do not require visas for stays of up to 90 days. Theses countries include those who joined the Schengen area, Iceland, Norway and the Principality of Liechtenstein. For stays of more than three months in Italy you must obtain a residence permit. The citizens of the United States, Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand and Switzerland, can apply for residence permit after entering Italy without a visa.

The steps to follow to apply for permanent residence or stay are: a) first make a request at the Police Headquarters of the area within eight working days of being in Italy, b ) Submit with the application the following documents: a photocopy of all pages of your passport and the original passport, three passport-sized photos of itself, a hallmark of about 10 or 12 dollars and a document proving that you live c) has to save the receipt of the submission of the request.
