Tourism in Rome

As the ancient phrase goes, all roads lead to Rome. There are so many things to see and so much culture to experience in Rome that one can be overwhelmed by it all. Not only do you have the ancient monuments, ruins, and architectural wonders, but each house, each road, and each piazza tells a story of its own.

Tourist Attractions in Rome include:

  • The Vatican:
The center of the Catholic Church, St. Peter's Cathedral in the Vatican is also the world's largest church. It is a great example of Italian Renaissance style.
  • Colosseum:
Formerly used for gladiatorial combat and other types of entertainment, the Colosseum is an ancient prototype on which many of our modern stadiums are modeled.
  • Pantheon:
The Pantheon is the best-preserved of all Roman buildings and the oldest important building in the world with its original roof still intact. Originally built as a temple, it has been a Christian Church since the 7th century, and in continuous use throughout history.

Geography and Climate

Rome is located towards the west of Italy, approximately half way down the peninsula.  The city gets quite warm in the summer with high summer temperatures and sunny skies, while the winters are relatively mild and rainy.

Culture in Rome

Roman culture has an excellent mix of everything. Art, music, sports, shopping, and great cuisine are all important cultural aspects of Rome.

Outdoor markets in the major public squares are also typically Roman. Just sit in a typical Roman piazza, sip cappuccino and enjoy the buzzing view.

Shopping in Rome

Rome is one of the fashion capitals of the world with expensive designers' shops like Armani, Versace and Ferre. However, there are many shops that sell reduced label goods and are affordable to all.

In addition, you can find great souvenirs among the street vendors in Rome.
