Sports in Frankfurt

Considering Frankfurt a sporting city is not as strange as one might think at first. The city's largest stadium is, without a doubt, the Waldstadion, with numerous adjoining facilities and which was once demolished and rebuilt. For smaller scale events, with only a few dozens of thousands of spectators, the Ballsporthalle is just the thing. Both stadiums are built to host professional sporting events, cultural events and concerts. Frankfurt has many other activities to offer sports fans, ranging from programs at the Kalbach sports centre to the Eissporthalle (ice rink for winter sports) or, if you prefer something along more elitist lines, the Galopprennbahn (galloping track) or a golf course in the outskirts of Frankfurt. The city has 470 sporting centres where you can participate in the sports of your choice; Frankfurt's green belt is also a great place for outdoor sports such as power walking, golfing, roller blading, ice skating, go-carting, parachuting, jogging and cycling.
