San Isidro Museum

Madrid’s patron saint is said to have lived here for a fairly long time. Presently this attractively designed building is a museum, displaying artifacts from Madrid’s history which date from ancient times to around 1560. Some of the pieces actually belong to the Madrid City Museum and the Archaeological Museum. The building also includes an exquisite 17th century chapel, decorated with beautiful frescos by Zacarías González Velázquez. The 16th century Renaissance-style patio features a delightful wishing well and as stories have it, San Isidro once saved his son from drowning in it.
