Museum of Popular Arts and Customs - Mesón de la Victoria

The Museum of Popular Arts and Customs is found in the pasillo de Santa Isabel, alongside the Gadalmedina river, housed in a 17th Century building which used to be an inn by the name of Mesón de la Victoria. This small attractive museum, recently restored was created to provide people of today with an insight into the lifestyle, traditions and customs of the locals in times gone by.

The museum has two floors and a central patio with a spring and a well. The ground floor displays furniture, cooking utensils, a baking oven and a wine cellar and press. In the upstairs rooms, more furniture is exhibited, along with clothing from different periods, a collection of ceramics and earthenware. The Museum also has a room which recreates Malagan writer Narciso Díaz Escobar’s study and contains his personal archive.
In the courtyard, the stables contain horse-drawn carriages used in earlier times.

Mondays-Fridays: 10 am – 1:30 pm and 4 pm – 7 pm (5 pm – 8 pm during summer)
Saturdays: 10 am – 1:30 pm
