German Events and Celebrations

Germany is probably the country with the most festivals in Europe; almost all towns and villages, big or small, have their summer fair and a wide range of Christian and pagan celebrations that have melded throughout the years, filling up the calendar.

The most well known German festival is undoubtedly the Oktoberfest from Munich, but Carnaval and the Christmas holidays are among the most highly regarded in Germany. There are also a large number of music festivals, from opera to open-air jazz and rock concerts, namely the Berlin Love Parade, where the German capital is turned into one giant disco.
