German History
Bronze Age
It was about 2500 BC when the Bronze Age began in Germany and prospectors from the eastern Mediterranean began working the tin and copper deposits situated in the region. During this period in history various groups moved into Germany , including the Indo-Europeans, the Baltic and Slavic peoples, the Celts and the Bell-Beaker people. The latter were very skilled metal workers and the Bronze Age culture in Germany thrived.
Other, more advanced metalworking cultures were developed by the Celts from 1800 to 400 BC, and as they spread across Europe , the Germanic tribes absorbed a great deal from the Celts, including their use of iron for tools and weapons, ox-drawn ploughs and wheels. The Germanic tribes ended up by almost completely displacing the Celts.
