Spanish Events and Celebrations
No other country in Europe do people celebrate like they do in Spain - a country whose "events and celebrations" calendar is dotted with holidays and festivals. National holidays as well as regional events are widely adhered to and form an important part of this country's essence. Hardly a month goes by without some sort of celebration behing held somewhere in Spain.
Most of the most important celebrations here are tied to their Roman Catholic belief and you will find many festivals honoring the Madonna or many of the saints. But extremely characteristic of Spain are also some of the non-religious events such as the bull runs in Pamplona and the tomato throwing festival near Valencia.
The many music festivals must not be left out, especially those held in the summer months. The famous Vitoria- Gasteiz Jazz Festival is a must-see if you happen to be there in July.
