Paulina Rubio

Born on June 17, 1971 in Mexico City, Paulina’s full name is Paulina Rubio Dosamantes and during her childhood and teenage years she lived in Mexico, Los Angeles and Spain. Her mother, Susana Dosamantes, was a famous actress who had to travel a lot, thus Paulina’s exposure to various different countries and cultures during her earliest years. By the age of 8 she was studying singing and dancing at a performing arts school, El Centro de Capacitación de Televisa. She formed part of the Mexican pop group, Timbiriche, a sensation during the 80’s, along with a fellow uprising pop star, Thalia.

Paulina later tried things on her own, studying phonetics, singing and jazz to launch a solo career in the early nineties, which was hugely successful. She also began taking roles in soap operas and soon on the big screen in a film called "Besame en la boca".

Today, Paulina is the winner of many awards, such as the 2001 Univision Awards for Best Female Pop Artist and Best Album, three 2001 Latin Grammy Award nominations. One of her best albums titled “Paulina” sold over 3 million copies. With her hugely successful albums in Spanish, Paulina ventured into the English lyrics market and reaped success there too. She continues working on many projects and is definitely seen as one of the artists who will go a long way.
