4 How to apply First fill out the application form for one of the Au Pair programs and hand it in to us. You can find the application form either in the back of this brochure or on our website. If you have any questions our colleagues would be happy to assist you. What’s next After we have received and checked your application, you will receive detailed application documents including the recommendation form and the certifi- cate of health. A personal letter to your future host family and a picture collage complete your records. Now it’s time to match We check if your application is complete and send it to our colleagues at the part- ner institution in each destination. Every family who is interested in your appli- cation will be contacting you via E-Mail, Skype or phone. Companionship all the way Our colleagues will assist and support you before your trip and will advise you with helpful information on the country and people. When in the country of your choice we won’t leave you alone. You will be supported by our colleagues in the partner institutions on site. Get to know your host family After our host families have been careful- ly selected and screened by our partner institutions, they are welcomed into the program. Afterwards, you can start to get to know each other. Once a decision has been made, it'll be time for you to pack and go. Your daily routine First and foremost, you'll be taking care of the children. You'll also do light housework, the grocery shopping or prepare small meals. Your working hours are regulated and you will also have enough time for a language class or your own activities. Knowledge of the language It’s a plus if you are able to communi- cate in the language of your destination before arriving there. In your host country your language skills will improve significantly and you will feel more and more confident every day. What to expect You will have your own room, receive pocket money and frequently have days and weekends off. In a lot of cases you will have the possibility to attend a language class on site.
