4 FUN-PACKED LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR YOU Our courses Regardless of your choice of course, you’ll have the chance to develop your language ability quickly and effectively. Our Standard Course, of 20 lessons per week, aims to give a dramatic boost to your confidence in a foreign language, with focused teaching in all 4 skill areas: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Our Intensive Course builds on our Standard Course, with 10 additional lessons per week, focusing on the fas- test possible language acquisition. Workshops 1. Business English helps in develop- ing skills such as email writing, leading meetings, target group vocabulary and the use of idioms. 2. Job Applications & Interviews is designed as an aid for job appli- cations. It covers vocabulary and func- tional tailor-made language. 3. Communication Skills offers you assistance for elaborate conversa- tions and advice when implementing advanced communication strategies. 4. Public Speaking & Presentations helps in strengthening confidence be- fore larger audiences (e.g. professional or academic presentations). 5. English Drama. Develop your abilities as an actor and perform a play in front of an audience – train your rhetoric and pronounciation. Customised workshops available on request. Teaching time The Standard Course generally takes place from 9:00 to 12:30, Monday to Friday. Students who choose the Intensive Course have 2 additional lessons focused on conversation from 13:00 to 14:30, Monday to Friday. *Alterations possible Evaluation & Certificate The majority of our students take an online language test prior to commencing their programme, how- ever if this is not available, they may take the exam on the first Monday. Students are placed into classes according to their current language skills. Each student receives an end-of- course certificate. Excursions 1 week — 2 week 3 week + 1 week more etc. etc. Supervision Throughout the trip learners are ac- companied by our "Teamers" – young adults between the ages of 20 and 30 who have specially been trained to meet the requirements of our young learners. Our Teamers come from all over Europe and America, and com- municate with students exclusively in the language being taught. Each Teamer is responsible for the super- vision of around 15 students, travel- ling with the group, checking where the students are going during their free time, as well as staying with them at the residence. Teamers are also responsible for the organisation of the leisure activity programme. Students aged 17 and under are expected to observe a curfew and follow the full leisure programme. Students aged between 18 and 20 also enjoy the complete support of the Teamers, and while not bound by the leisure programme, they are encouraged to take part in any activities which are of interest to them. Leisure programme The learning journey continues as soon as classes finish! With our comprehensive leisure programme, students have the opportunity to really discover their chosen destination. A two-week language course generally includes a big variety of activities plus at least one full-day excursion and four half-day activities (see table below for more details). Of course, students are also given some free time to socialise in the afternoons and evenings! Transfer Our U20 programs offer the option to book the transfer upon request – students are in good hands from arrival to departure. Students will be picked up at the airport upon arrival and taken to their accommodation. We require full flight details at least 4 weeks be-fore arrival. Transfer schedules vary depending on the destination, and detailed information can be found on the individual school pages. Transfer outside of the specific time frames is possible and can incur a surcharge. Students travel to and from the airport with their fellow classmates, most of whom they will be meeting for the first time. The transfer provides students with the first opportunity to make new friends. Students generally check into their accommodation in the afternoon and check out of their room in the morning on the day of departure. They may be asked to pay a key deposit, which will be returned on departure. Unaccompanied Minor Service With our Unaccompanied Minor Service (UM) our students enjoy a personalised transfer service. Parents will be informed of the name, phone number and address of the transfer driver well before departure. The driver is only allowed to accom- pany students to the check-in, not to the gate. That is why we do every- thing possible to ensure your home away from home is comfortable. We provide a wide range of accommo- dation options, with something to suit every taste and budget. Whichever option you choose, you’ll feel at home from day one! In rare cases, we reserve the right to offer accommo- dation not identical to that mentioned in this brochure. If needed, a travel card for public trans- portation might cost between 15 to 35 EUR/USD/GBP/CAD additionally. Homestay By staying with locals, students dis- cover the customs and habits of their destination right from the start, samp- ling authentic local cuisine and disco- vering how the locals really live. Learning continues even when lessons have finished. Our friendly hosts are experienced in hosting interna- tional students and play an integral part in their learning experience. A few homestays may be located outside of the centre, which means students get to know parts of the destination typically undiscovered by tourists. Joint accommodation: If you’re plan- ning to travel with friends and would like to share your room with someone in particular, please let us know well in advance, so we can take this into consideration when allocating accommodation. Residence / College At a residence, students usually stay closer to school than they would with a homestay, which means less commu- ting and more time enjoying their sur- roundings. They will get to stay with other students from all over the world, allowing them to use their new language skills in an international environ- ment. Teamers also stay at the resi- dence. Our colleges offer accommodation and classes all at one place. The Club Village in Malta is truly unique.
