This beach area is extremely
popular with the locals, who enjoy coming to swim and sunbathe.
In actual fact, Malagueta Beach is an artificial beach –
it was created long ago using sand brought in from the Sahara
desert. In order to avoid the encroachment of the sea, a small
dike has been set up as protection.
A great area to socialize in, there are
many up market beach clubs, bars and cafes, an exclusive restaurant
and a nautical club. A wide range of activities are available
here including swimming, jogging, mountain biking. The water
is kept clean and there are showers and public toilets nearby.
Lifeguards are posted at all times. Malagueta Beach even draws
locals on winter days if the sun is shining.
