In the 20th century
of Mexican literature many authors, poets and playwrights
have made a name for themselves, including Carlos
Fuentes, Martín Luis Guzmán, José
Vasconcelos, Agustín Yáñez, Andrés
Henestrosa, Mariano Azuela, Alfonso Reyes and Octavio
Paz, among many others. Themes vary enormously and many
formal aspects of literature are dealt with, but many works
use the oral traditions of Mexico’s native people, passed
down through time. The introspection of Mexican literature
is very valuable in keeping alive the cultural heritage.
