EU citizens planning to travel to Malta do not need any special documentation other than a passport valid for 90 days after the proposed departure date from Malta. Citizens of other countries may be subject to visa requirements, which are outlined below.
Countries that have been placed in the following list are not required to apply for a visa to enter Malta for visits of up to 90 days: Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Cyprus, Korea, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, USA, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Libya, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, Norway, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom and Commonwealth, Romania, San Marino, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Uruguay, Vatican. Other countries which are not included in this list must apply for a visa, issued by your local Maltese consulate. The procedure for applying for a visa to travel to Malta can take up to four weeks. Children under 16 need permission from parents or must be registered in the passport of the same.
