Tourism in Mallorca

Mallorca is Spain's largest island and is located in the Mediterranean Sea.  Since the 1950s, Mallorca has become a popular tourism destination for Europeans because of its beauty, weather and culture.

Mallorca Climate & Weather

These islands are in an ideal geographical position in terms of weather. The Mediterranean climate is pleasantly moderate. Winter weather in Mallorca is surprisingly mild and dry. Summer months are still comfortable thanks to the influence of the sea, even during the maximum temperatures. Mallorca enjoys around 300 sunny days throughout the year.

Mallorca Eating

Mallorca is an ideal place to experiment the varied local cuisine, which features delicacies that come from a mix of Spanish, Portuguese, Moorish, Jewish and Catalan influences. Typical Mallorcan dishes include seafood, pork and even rabbit, exquisite Mahón cheese and fresh fruit and vegetables.

Mallorca Shopping

The Balearic Islands offer very interesting and original shopping opportunities. With the strong mix of different cultures and a long standing tradition of craftsmanship, the items for sale at the markets set up around the Islands are truly unique.  Make sure to visit the various city markets such as Saturday morning flea market on Avenida Alomar y Villalonga, Sunday markets at Consell and Binissalem and Wednesday morning markets in Sineu.

Tourist Attractions in  Mallorca

  • Cathedral La Seu - The Gothic Cathedral (La Seu) in Palma de Mallorca rises above the harbour like a giant ship and is as beautiful close up as it is from afar. Building work on it started in 1230 and lasted for nearly 400 years.
  • Castell de Bellver - The best view of Palma can be seen from the Castell de Bellver. From the castle’s flat roof you can admire the 360 degree view of the whole city, the bay and the surrounding countryside.
  • Es Baluard Museum - Palma’s latest museum is Es Baluard, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, built on the remaining site of the 16th century Bastio de Sant Pere.  In addition to the art collection, the setting is also beautiful, right on Passeig Maritim with stunning views across the harbour, with the cathedral on one side and Castell de Bellver on the other.
