Visa for Australia
European citizens and those of the countries specified below who want to travel to Australia for tourism or business for up to three months need a passport. At present, this permission only applies to citizens of the following countries:
Andorra, Austria, Belgium, British territories, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong (SAR), Greenland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea (Rep.), Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, USA and Vatican City.
The Electronic Travel Authority replaces a visa. It is completly electronic. There is no need to fill in an application form, send your passport or to stamp it.
You can request your Electronic Travel Authority at the time of your travel reservations, at www.eta.immi.gov.au or through the embassy of Australia in your home country.
If you want to stay in Australia for up to 6 months, you must apply for a visa. This will entail a series of requirements. Subsequently, they should be sent to the Embassy, by mail or messenger:
1. A valid passport
2.A passport-size photo
3. A letter from your travel agent to confirm details of your flights into and from Australia
4. A bank statement showing that you have at least 4000 Euro available for the trip
5. The application form (pdf) (you may request a form from the embassy if you can not download it from their site) duly completed and signed.
