The Australian school system is divided into terms (abbreviated with "T"). A school year consists of 4 terms of 3 months each. Below you can find the term dates for all four provinces:

The start of school in Australia depends on the province, but there is usually a very small difference between a province and another. In any case, you will fly out a few days before school starts. If you add the Singapore Experience, you will usually fly out a week before school starts and can start your adventure earlier.

Australia is a very safe country. The crime rate is very low. Nevertheless, we recommend to keep personal valuables either on yourself or in a safe place.
