Why look for a summer job in Malta

Malta is one of our most popular destinations and a long-standing favourite among the students who join our English courses. The reason is easy to spot: it's a young, lively place where the sun shines almost all year round and the sea is never far away. Who wouldn't want to study in a setting like this and live the holiday lifestyle? It's just as compelling a reason to consider a summer job abroad in Malta. Tourism and the language travel sector are constantly growing here, and together they create an environment full of professional opportunities and connections with people from all walks of life. The island is one of Europe's busiest summer destinations, with a huge concentration of language programmes and educational activities that need qualified, flexible staff. Our Teamers and Group Leaders are exactly that. Malta is also home to some of our most important schools, including our Club Village campus, where supervision and coordination are absolutely essential.

A working stay in Malta also gives you the chance to develop transferable skills you'd struggle to pick up anywhere else. We're talking about leading international groups across different age ranges, problem-solving in real operational situations, and sharpening your English communication skills. Even though you won't be sitting in class, you'll improve your English simply because it's the language you'll use with everyone, all day long. This is one of the most rewarding language school jobs we offer, precisely because the language is part of every interaction. You'll also build adaptability to changing rhythms and workloads, which can vary depending on what the programme requires.

Malta is a great choice for its multicultural atmosphere too. You'll grow on every level. On a personal note, you'll boost your independence, sense of responsibility, and confidence in your own abilities.

When it comes to our SPRACHCAFFE programmes, working in Malta for a summer is much more than a seasonal side gig. It carries a strong educational and organisational dimension, set within a structured language learning system with a clear hierarchy.

In short, this is an especially interesting role for anyone who dreams of working while travelling without giving up on professional growth. With us, you'll build skills that will serve you well in the international tourism and education sectors for years to come.

SPRACHCAFFE Malta Teamer: who we're looking for

Are you really the Teamer we're looking for in our Malta location? Let's find out together with a few quick questions.

Are you a student looking for work abroad during the summer months and beyond? Do you have a good level of English and feel genuinely motivated by the idea of working with young people? Are you happy to work evening and night shifts, or to handle a flexible work schedule?

Then you might be the perfect fit for the open position at SPRACHCAFFE as a Malta Teamer. We're one of the most rewarding jobs in Malta for English speakers who want to combine a real role with an international summer experience. We're looking for a capable, responsible person who can supervise our students during the night while they take part in our language holidays on the island of Malta. The candidate must keep a calm, peaceful atmosphere and, above all, maintain order inside our Club Village throughout the night, making sure nothing unpleasant happens to our young guests. Everything needs to run smoothly, and you'll be the watchful eye spotting issues, sorting them out, and, even better, preventing them altogether.

Night Group Leader in Malta: skills and responsibilities

The Night Group Leader in Malta plays a role of operational presence and student support within our language holiday programmes. Think of it as a SPRACHCAFFE camp counsellor role with a clear focus: providing continuous supervision once the structured daytime activities have finished. The role centres on three main areas: safety, emergency management, and keeping our Club Village (or accommodation) calm and well-ordered.

The responsibilities we'll entrust you with as our Group Leader are the following:

Your primary responsibility is monitoring students during the night hours. This is your most important task, and we expect it to be carried out with great care. We need you to make sure everyone follows the rules of the accommodation and that all participants are always in safe conditions.

To do this, you'll carry out regular checks in common areas and corridors, manage late returns properly, and always ensure the schedule set by the programme is respected.

Being there to help students whenever they need it

The Night Group Leader is the immediate point of reference for any student need during the night. It might be a practical request, a small organisational issue, or a personal situation that requires a bit of support. Whatever the case, when they need help, they'll come to you.

The ability to step in quickly while keeping a calm, reassuring approach is essential to providing constant support outside daytime hours.

A key part of the role is making sure the environment stays peaceful and safe. That includes managing any behaviour that doesn't follow the rules, mediating moments of tension, and stepping in the right way: firm yet balanced, and always open to dialogue with the students.

The aim is to preserve the orderly setting we need so that SPRACHCAFFE language holidays remain a great experience for everyone, throughout the entire stay.

Beyond your nighttime role, the Group Leader may be involved in operational support during the day, especially during busier moments such as meals or pool shifts.

In these situations, you'll help with the logistics of group management, working alongside other Teamers to keep activities running smoothly and to assist students whenever needed.

This isn't part of your usual duties, but bear in mind it can happen, which means your schedule may include some daytime hours too.

Summer job in Malta as a Teamer: the requirements

Clearly, this is a role with significant responsibility and one that calls for several specific skills. In other words, motivation alone isn't enough for this summer job in Malta. You'll need to meet a few precise requirements, which we list here:

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Have an excellent level of English (B2 minimum)
  • Have previous experience working with young people and teenagers
  • Show strong leadership skills, a sense of responsibility, and natural authority

The age threshold helps us make sure you have a first level of managerial maturity, which is useful when we entrust you with the supervision of younger student groups. Among the activity leader jobs available in Europe, ours stands out for the depth of responsibility we ask of you, which is why this baseline matters. Knowing English well is a central requirement for obvious reasons: you'll use it every day to communicate with the students, our staff, and local suppliers. It's not just a communication tool but an operational skill that's essential for managing activities and giving clear instructions. When something needs sorting out, you have to know how to make yourself understood properly.

We also require previous experience working with young people or teenagers, gained for example in fields like youth work, education, sports, volunteering, or organising group activities. If you've already worked in similar settings, you'll know how group dynamics work and how to maintain a positive, structured environment. This is one of those work abroad opportunities for students that genuinely rewards real, hands-on experience.

Working hours, conditions, and pay

Let's now look at a few practical details: working hours and conditions.

A quick note first: even though we're talking about a summer job in Malta, Saint Julian's, keep in mind that the warm season here lasts much longer than the standard. The reference period therefore runs from March to November, which makes this one of the longest seasonal work abroad opportunities in Europe. As for the length of your commitment, it varies depending on our needs and yours: minimum 3 weeks, maximum 3 months.

The working schedule takes place during the night, 6 days a week. If needed, it may extend into daytime hours, particularly during meals and pool shifts.

The pay is 120 euros per week for Teamers without prior experience, rising to 145 euros per week for senior Teamers and Group Leaders. On top of that, return flights and full-board accommodation are covered by SPRACHCAFFE.

Summer job offers in Malta as a Teamer: how to apply

If you think this opening matches your profile, fantastic. Let's move on to the procedure for joining the team. The first step is to send your application by e-mail to teamer_ett_@sprachcaffe_dot_.com, attaching an up-to-date CV and a motivation letter written in English. Your CV should clearly highlight the most relevant experiences you've gained working with young people, your language skills, and any activity that demonstrates organisational ability, responsibility, and a flair for working in dynamic, international settings. For example, if you've done volunteer work with children and teenagers, let us know.

Once we receive your application, our recruitment team will carefully review your profile. If the outcome is positive, we'll get back in touch to invite you to an interview or the next stage of the process, where we explore your interpersonal skills and personal motivation for the role in more depth. There will of course be a part dedicated to English, which we'll assess through questions and discussion.

If the selection goes well, we'll invite you to take part in one of our Teamer training courses, which usually take place at our Frankfurt location or right there in Malta, where you'd later be working. The training is short and typically takes one weekend. It's structured to give you all the operational information you need to carry out your role at the highest level. During these sessions, we'll dive into practical topics such as safety protocols, group management, activity planning, and communication standards with staff and students. This training stage is also a great chance to get to know SPRACHCAFFE from the inside. You'll meet our team and learn in detail how the day-to-day work plays out on the ground. As soon as you complete the training and are deemed ready, you'll join our pool of Teamers available for the summer season and can be assigned to different destinations based on the needs of the moment.

That's everything you need to know. So, ready to join us? Don't wait any longer. Send us your e-mail and tell us about yourself, about your desire to set off and work as a Group Leader. We can't wait to have you on board!
