Whether a participant needs a visa to attend a language programme in Germany depends on their nationality and the length of their stay.

No Visa Required (Short Stays up to 90 Days)

Citizens of the EU, EEA, Switzerland, and many other countries such as the USA, Canada, UK, Japan, South Korea, and Australia do not need a visa for stays under 90 days. A valid passport or ID card is sufficient for entry.

Visa Required (Non-EU Countries & Longer Stays)

Citizens of some countries outside the EU do need a visa to enter Germany for language courses. In this case, participants can apply for a Schengen short-term visa (up to 90 days) or a language course visa for longer stays.

Required Documents for Visa Application (if needed):

  • Letter of acceptance from Sprachcaffe
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Travel insurance
  • Flight reservation
  • Passport (valid at least 3 months beyond the stay)
  • Parental consent for minors (if applicable)

We strongly recommend starting the visa process at least 6-8 weeks before the planned travel date. Sprachcaffe will provide the necessary confirmation letters once your booking is complete.
