Calabria - Mediterranean with Class
Traveling time: 1 or 2 weeks from 07.10.2018
The Italian way of life and inviting weather awaits you! These alone would be enough to make Calabria worth a visit, but there is much more in store. Once you try the local cuisine, Calabria will surpass your wildest dreams. And you can also look forward to the lively and enthusiastic locals, who you’ll soon be able to chat with, thanks to your language course.

Activity Program
Who knew? Calabria is also becoming a destination spot for avid hikers. On a hike, you’ll have whole lot of historical sights to take in. Thanks to your language skills, the stories will really come alive. And we promise, you’ll never forget the breathtaking views from Capo Vaticano to Sicily.
Our school is located 3 km south of Tropea in the small village of Santa Domenica di Racadi. The spacious villa is surrounded by a heavenly orange grove, as well as oleander and olive trees. Lessons are often held outside under the trees. Such an idyllic setting offers a perfect learning environment.
The sandy beach is located 800 meters away from our language school and can be reached easily on foot, and other beaches in the area are also perfect for a swim. Small excursions introduce students to the charming village of Santa Domenica or to the town of Tropea 3 kilometers away.
Our school building is a modern villa, set in the middle of a garden with orange, oleander and olive trees, and equipped with:
- A reception
- Large, light and friendly classrooms
- Outdoor classrooms
- Common rooms with TV, video and stereo equipment
- A large garden with a fireplace
- Wi-Fi Internet for all students on the school grounds
The beach can be reached in 15 minutes by foot.
The number of students in each Italian course is limited to a maximum of 10, ensuring a personalised and familiar learning experience.

It would be a pity to stay in such beautiful spot and not have enough time to fully enjoy it. This is exactly why we offer our standard course with 20 lessons: with lessons only in the morning and free-time in the afternoons to discover Calabria. This is how we like to live and to learn.
In the beautifully situated hotel planned by us, you can recharge your batteries after a busy day. In addition to that, you can get in touch with other tourists and other language students, and start using your newly acquired Italian skills.
Hotel
The newly renovated 3 *** Hotel is located near the historical center of Tropea. To reach the language school from the hotel, it only takes 10 minutes with our specially arranged shuttle service. Day 1
You'll most likely land at Lamezia Terme airport, which has undergone large-scale modernization and expansion in recent years, testimony to the growing popularity of Calabria as a holiday destination. From there we can pick you up and take you to your accommodation.
Day 2
Your daily language course begins on Monday morning. After 4 lessons, there's still plenty of time to join the activity program in the afternoon. We'll kick it off with the essential champagne reception followed by a guided tour through Tropea.
Day 3
Calabria's cuisine is famous far beyond the Italian borders. We thought you'D appreciate getting stuck in early on in your stay with a cooking course on the second evening. Learn the traditional tricks and taste the results.
Day 4
Calabria is also popular among nature lovers. In order to see as much of the region up close as possible, we're going on a bike tour. Mountains on one side, the sunset illuminating the cliffs on the other!
Day 5
On Thursday you'll get to experience Calabria from the sea. We take the boat to the island of Stromboli, where you can sunbathe on the black beach and, with a bit of luck, see small volcanic eruptions producing lava fountains and smoke columns.
Day 6
To end your first week we want to clink glasses with you and drink to the days ahead. What could be better than a wine tasting of the regional produce?
Day 7
For Saturday we've planned an excursion to the cave town of Zungri. You'll be amazed by how people lived here in prehistoric times, and how advanced their craftsmanship was.
Day 8
On Sundays, we leave you to your own devices. Enjoy the time on the beach or discover the region on your own - it's not everyday you find yourself in Calabria free to do whatever you want!
Day 9
Did we mention that the Calabrian cuisine is known far beyond the national borders? Today you'll fall in love with a different dish, the preparation of which is has been perfected for millenia in this part of the world: fish. Whether baked, roasted, boiled, smoked or poached, you'll leave wanting more!
Day 10
Olives are true all-rounders in the kitchen and in cosmetics. Olive oil, olive soap and dried olives are all well known in green and black. How familiar are you with the cultivation of this popular stone fruit? Learn all about it at an olive plantation.
Day 11
Pizza... less typical of Calabria and more a symbol of Italy. Have you ever been able to watch a pizza baker at work on the masterpiece that is the pizza, from the selection of the ingredients, the preparation of the dough and sauce, and finally into the oven? Get ready for your dream to come true!
Day 12
Before you leave, treat yourself to a relaxing day to spend as you please. We're happy to give you some insider tips on everything you have yet to discover.
Day 13
For the big finale, we'll make the most of our last dinner together. Since you've become masters of the frying pan, it goes without saying that we can only give you occasional tips on the preparation of the evening meal. Time to show off your newly gained cooking skills.
Day 14
On Saturday, it's time to pack your suitcase and head to the airport for your flight back home. The Calabrians, however, don't say "ciao", but rather "alla prossima".
The organizer reserves the right to make changes to the event program.
