German Electronic Music - Mouse on Mars
The duo Mouse on Mars is made up of Jan St.Werner and Andi Thoma, musicians from Cologne and Düsseldorf. Inspired in groups such as Can, Neu! or Kraftwerk, they recreate the meaning of that rock inheritance by passing it through the electronic music filter.
Their career gave a leap forward when they came into contact with the English group Seefeld, as these gave them access to their label, Too Pure. In 1994 they published "Vulvaland", a record which was applauded by the critics, fascinated with the elaborate sound the band had created, with blends of electronic programming, forming an intricate sound weave.
Ambient, Electronic, Drum&Bass, Post Rock, Dub, Ska. every new record released by Mouse on Mars was a step forward in the exploration of new styles, creating never before heard rhythms, establishing new frontiers within dance music. In order to achieve this, the initial programming began to open up allowing for the incorporation of string instruments, piano and human voices.
Their natural workplace is the studio, where working with fragments, they experiment with different combinations, trying to put together an ever increasing amount of elements, but without losing the clarity of sound.
