Gil de Siloé
Gil de Siloé, probably of Flamencan origin, was one of the most representative sculptors of the final stage in Gothic art (the last third of the 15th Century), not only in Spain but on the Continent as a whole. Living and working in Burgos, de Siloé blended the Italian Renaissance style with traditional Spanish Gothic and Moorish elements. A master decorator, his work was sumptuous and highly ornamental.
One of his masterpieces includes the main altarpiece at he church of Miraflores. Toward the later years of his life, he worked in Granada, creating principally architectural works.
