Frisian Islands

Situated on Germany 's north-western coast, the Frisian Isles reward those who have made the effort to go and see them. Most of the region belongs to a national park. A very popular destination for short trips and family vacations is the isle of Sylt. Those tourists who travel budget-conscient might prefer going to Föhr or Amrum, both more peaceful, out of the tourist spotlight and therefore cheaper. All those islands offer as magnificent views of sun rays hitting the icy North Sea, fantastic fresh sea food dishes and long walks, horse or bike riding along the many trails and in the surrounding areas.

Out to sea lies Helgoland and visits to this island can be made into a fun excursion lasting for one or wo days. It was used as a submarine base during World War II and nowadays you can go and visit the fire resistant bunkers and underground tunnels.
