Understanding Will-Future tense: Formation, usage and example sentences

The English tense will-future follows a rule that you simply have to learn and apply. Fortunately, there are no irregularities that deviate from this rule. Therefore, we recommend that you spend some time studying this rule. Check out the rule for forming the will future tense here:

Subject + will + verb (basic form).

The will-future tense is used in English to mention processes, conditions or actions that are not yet one hundred per cent certain. You also need to use the will future tense to talk about actions that will take place in the near future. So you use the will-future tense when expressing the following situations:

• Spontaneous decisions

Since the difference between will-future tense and going-to-future tense is very small and it is easy to confuse these two English tenses of the future, it is important that you understand the use of will-future tense well. So, unlike going-to-future, you use the will-future tense to talk about future events that are not completely certain. There are a few signal words that indicate the use of the Will future. However, you should note that many of the signal words below do not only indicate the use of the Will-Future. Because of the similarity to going-to-future, you need to be careful with some of the signal words and always remember that the will-future is always used for not quite sure states in the future.
