As a European Union Citizen you don’t need a passport to travel to France, a valid government ID will be sufficient. This is a fundamental benefit since France also has some overseas territories which you don’t need a visa to visit as a European Union citizen. However, if you are planning to stay longer than 3 months in the territories you will require a valid Visa.
