Healthy Eating, the Moroccan Way

In Morocco, good food and healthy food often go hand in hand. Many traditional recipes are built on simple ingredients like fresh vegetables, lentils, chickpeas, olive oil and fish, brought to life with spices such as cumin, cinnamon and saffron. It's no coincidence that Morocco was among the countries included when UNESCO added the Mediterranean diet to its list of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2010. Around Rabat, you'll spot this way of eating everywhere, from the busy market stalls to a steaming bowl of harira or a slow-cooked vegetable tagine. The ideas from your nutrition sessions become something you can see, smell and taste.

A Week Built Around Real Life

Instead of strict rules, you’ll explore what really helps you feel energised throughout the day: how to put together satisfying meals, how to recognise stress eating and how to make small changes that last. The exercise sessions focus on loosening up your back, neck and shoulders and improving your mobility, with no gym or equipment needed. You’ll also look at how sleep, tension and food affect each other, and how short breaks can help you recharge.

All sessions are taught in simple, everyday English, and the group is small enough for questions at any time. With 25 lessons a week, you’ll have plenty of time to explore Rabat and enjoy Moroccan food for yourself.

Your Trainer in Morocco

Felicija Baćak guides the Nutrition and Exercise retreat in Rabat. As a certified medical fitness trainer (A licence) with additional qualifications in Pilates and Yin Yoga, she combines movement and nutrition into one practical approach. Her focus is on knowledge you can use straight away, and she stays with the group from day one to the very last session.

"I don't hand out training plans that end up in a drawer after two weeks. I show you what you can actually use at your desk on Monday morning. And with meal prep, I'll show you how to cook for several days in an hour, using what's already in your fridge."

FAQ

No. The retreat starts from the very beginning, so neither sporting experience nor nutrition knowledge is needed. The exercise sessions are moderate and focus on mobility and releasing tension. When you sign up, we ask about any health restrictions so the sessions can be adapted to the group.

Yes. Rest is an important part of the programme. You'll look at how stress, sleep and eating habits influence each other and learn simple ways to build short breaks into your day, so you feel more balanced and less drained.

Yes, the sessions are designed with beginners in mind. You'll learn simple techniques and combinations that don't require cooking skills or a lot of time, including smart ways to use ready-made products. Whether you cook every day or hardly ever, you'll leave with ideas that fit your routine.

Not at all. There's no calorie counting and no foods you have to cut out. Instead of strict rules, you'll learn how to put together balanced, filling meals and find small changes that fit into your everyday life for the long term.

With meal prep, you cook a few basics in advance, such as lentils, chickpeas, whole grains or roasted vegetables. During the week, you combine them in different ways, for example as a salad, a bowl or a soup. That way, you always have something healthy ready and are less likely to reach for quick snacks.

If you can follow an everyday conversation, you'll be fine. The sessions include lots of demonstrations and practical examples rather than long talks, and you can ask questions at any time.
