Language Camps Abroad for Teens

Your teenager wants adventure. You want safety, supervision and real progress. SPRACHCAFFE language camps abroad deliver all three. We have organised language camps for teenagers since 1983, pairing structured lessons with the freedom to explore a new country alongside friends from around the world. The language stays with them long after the summer, and so does the confidence.

Teenagers arrive as strangers from a dozen different countries. Within days, they become a close international group. By the end of the trip, the progress is real, and the friendships often outlast the summer by years.

Language Immersion

Live the language every day - in class, with friends and out exploring your destination.

Where teens can go on a language camp abroad

SPRACHCAFFE runs language camps abroad for teenagers across Europe, North America and Asia, grouped by the language you want to learn. Most European destinations are only a few hours from major travel hubs. Each camp pairs lessons with cultural discovery, so the language comes to life outside the classroom too.

English language camps

For English, teens can choose Malta (St. Julian's and St. Paul's), England (Brighton, London and London North) or Frankfurt in Germany, as well as Vancouver in Canada. Malta combines English with beaches and a Mediterranean campus, while England puts learners in the country where the language began.

French language camps

In France, Nice on the Côte d'Azur offers lessons a short walk from the sea, and Vancouver in Canada teaches both French and English.

Spanish language camps

In Spain, Barcelona and Málaga bring together city life, architecture and beach days, while Playa del Carmen adds the Caribbean coast of Mexico.

Chinese language camps

For Chinese, Beijing places teens between historic temples and a fast-moving modern city, with the Great Wall on the excursion list.

Online courses are also available if travelling is not an option this time.

How a language camp abroad works

Lessons on a SPRACHCAFFE language camp follow the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), with levels from A1 to C1. On the standard course, teens have 20 lessons a week, around 15 hours, Monday to Friday in the morning. Classes stay small, with a maximum of 15 students per group. Teens take a placement test, either online before departure or on the Monday before lessons begin, so everyone joins at the right level.

Qualified teachers focus on the four core skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing, using materials made for teenagers. In the afternoons and evenings, the activity programme takes over, with sport, excursions, beach time and international parties. At some destinations, teens can also prepare for recognised exams such as Cambridge English. At the end of the course, every participant receives a SPRACHCAFFE certificate confirming the level they have reached.

Safety and supervision on a teen language camp

At SPRACHCAFFE, your teenager is looked after from arrival to departure. Trained Teamers meet the group at the airport, stay close during lessons, meals and activities, and run the free-time programme. They live in the same residence as the students, so support is never far away. Our organisation follows the European EN14804 standard for the supervision of young people abroad. Reception is reachable around the clock, and parents receive the relevant contact details before departure.

Accommodation and full board

Teens stay in supervised residences, in our Club Village in Malta, in a college in London North, or with carefully selected host families. Rooms are usually shared with other students, which makes it easy to settle in and make friends. Full board is standard at every destination: breakfast and an evening meal, plus a warm lunch or a packed lunch. Wi-Fi is available, and special diets such as vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free can be arranged. Just let us know when booking and we organise the rest.

Getting there and airport transfers

Teens can travel independently or join one of our accompanied group transfers. Where an airline requires it, an unaccompanied minor service is available. Our team meets every group on arrival and brings them safely to their accommodation. Visa and entry rules depend on nationality and destination, so we recommend checking the current requirements with the relevant embassy or official source before booking.

Insurance and emergency support

We strongly recommend taking out travel health and cancellation insurance before the trip. You can arrange this yourself or book it through SPRACHCAFFE and our insurance partner. EU citizens can also carry a European Health Insurance Card for cover within the EU. If a teen falls ill, our team responds quickly and arranges a visit to a local doctor or clinic, keeping parents informed throughout.

Accredited schools you can trust

SPRACHCAFFE has specialised in language travel since 1983. Our schools hold independent accreditations: FELTOM in Malta, the British Council and English UK in London, Languages Canada in Vancouver, and the Instituto Cervantes in Barcelona and Málaga. SPRACHCAFFE is ISO 9001 certified and a member of FDSV, ALTO and WYSE. These are independent, verifiable standards rather than in-house labels, which is exactly what parents should look for when comparing providers.

Why a language camp abroad matters

Choosing to study a language abroad gives teenagers far more than vocabulary. Living away from home pushes them out of their comfort zone, often for the first time on their own, and they grow with every new routine and every new face. Real fluency builds because the language keeps going outside the classroom, over shared meals, on excursions and in the group chat that stays active long after everyone flies home. Intercultural skills grow just as fast, and teens return more curious, more capable and more independent than when they left.

I used to struggle with English. Now I feel so much more confident. When you learn with a bit of fun, it just clicks.

Our teachers are friendly, qualified, and professional. Each of our schools is staffed year-round with professional language teachers, so you benefit from consistent, high-quality tuition regardless of when you join.

Are they native speakers?

Yes. All teachers are highly qualified and have years of experience in teaching their mother tongue. This same standard applies across our schools.

What is their background?

  • They use the latest and most effective textbooks and up-to-date materials, covering all four key language skills: speaking, reading, listening, and writing.
  • They conduct placement tests to ensure every student starts at the right level.
  • They give regular progress tests and feedback to keep your learning on track.
  • For exam preparation programmes, they are experienced in preparing students for internationally recognized qualifications such as IELTS, the Cambridge Advanced Certificate, TOEFL, and TestDaF.
  • For the University Pathways programme, teachers and placement consultants work together as a team to support students throughout their entire journey.

Yes - and we don't take that lightly. From the moment your child lands, our trained teamers are there: airport pick-up, accommodation check-in, daily activities, and round-the-clock support.

We've spent over 40 years refining every detail of how we look after young guests abroad, so you can relax at home while they're out making friends, exploring a new city, and growing more confident every day. If anything comes up, there's always someone to call - for them and for you.

Mornings are for language class - small international groups, qualified teachers, and real conversation from day one.

Afternoons are where the magic happens: beach trips, city tours, sports, cooking workshops, sightseeing - it changes depending on the destination, but it's never boring. Evenings bring everyone together for group activities, games, or just hanging out with the crew. By the end of week one, your child won't just have classmates. They'll have a group from Italy, Japan, Brazil, and everywhere in between - and a summer they'll talk about for years.

We've built our kids programme so you don't have to worry about a thing - and your child can focus on the fun. Here's everything that comes as part of the package:

  • Language lessons. Small international groups, qualified teachers, and a placement test on day one so your child joins the right level - whether they're starting from scratch or already chatting confidently.
  • Accommodation. A safe, welcoming place to stay - usually a residence or host family, depending on the destination - with full board so meals are taken care of from breakfast to dinner.
  • Full activity programme. Afternoons and evenings are packed: city tours, beach days, sports, cooking workshops, movie nights, group games, and excursions to the destination's must-see spots. Your child won't have time to be bored.
  • 24/7 supervision. Our trained teamers are with the group throughout the day and on call around the clock. From the airport pick-up to the goodbye on departure day, someone is always looking out for your child.
  • Airport transfers. We meet your child at arrival and bring them safely back at the end of the trip - no stress, no surprises.
  • Course materials and certificate. All learning materials are included, and every student receives a SPRACHCAFFE certificate at the end confirming their level and progress.
  • Insurance and emergency support. Health and accident insurance is included, and our local team is reachable around the clock if anything comes up.

What your child brings home isn't just on this list, though. It's the friendships with kids from a dozen different countries, the confidence of having lived abroad on their own, and stories you'll still hear about at the dinner table years from now.

It's one of our favourite questions, because the answer lies at the heart of what makes SPRACHCAFFE different. Our camps are genuinely international. During any given week in the summer, you will find students from over 20 countries sharing the same classroom, dinner table and afternoon activities, hailing from places such as Italy, Spain and France, as well as Japan, Brazil, Germany, Turkey and beyond.

We work hard to keep this mix balanced. No single nationality dominates, so your child won't end up speaking their own language with a group from home - they'll be learning English (or Spanish, French or Italian) because it's the only language everyone shares. That's where real progress happens.

It's also where real friendships are formed. The group chat that's still active six months after the trip? It usually features flags from five different countries in its name.
