Staff is nice. I'm satisfied with rooms, services include a pool, billiard, food and drinks. This hotel has also a beautiful view and in my opinion, it's suitable for travel groups at affordable prices (like family, students,…etc). A small suggestion from me is that you should spray insecticide to avoid insect bites to tourists. Maybe, one day i will return to this place with my family 🇲🇹😚💯

Why choose Malta for an English camp?

Malta is the only EU member state where English is an official language. The Maltese constitution recognises both Maltese and English as official languages, and English is the primary language of education, government, business, and tourism. 90% of Maltese residents speak English fluently, according to European Commission Eurobarometer - one of the highest rates in the EU.

What makes Malta effective for teen English camps:

  • Authentic English exposure in daily life, including shops, cafés, transport, and interactions with locals.
  • Easy travel within the EU and Schengen Area, with simple entry for many students.
  • Well-regulated English-language education sector with national quality standards.
  • FELTOM-accredited schools are inspected and meet international standards for teaching, accommodation, and supervision.

The teachers are very cool and funny and they always try to make the lesson good for us and interesting. It's quite cool.

It's very helpful to go here. It's a nice combination between free time and learning.

Club Village St. Julian's

The SPRACHCAFFE Club Village in St. Julian's has welcomed international students since 1991 and holds FELTOM accreditation — Malta's official quality mark for English-language schools. The campus combines striking Mediterranean limestone architecture with a central pool that becomes the social heart of every stay.

Everything is on one site: classrooms, residence rooms, restaurant, bar, games room, shaded garden, and beach volleyball court — no travel between school and accommodation. The Mediterranean coast is a 5-minute walk away. St. Julian's beach is 10 minutes. Sliema is 15 minutes. Valletta, Malta's UNESCO World Heritage capital, is 30 minutes by bus.

A 24-hour reception is always open. Trained Teamers live on campus, alongside the students they supervise.

SPRACHCAFFE schools in Malta

We run two distinct campuses in Malta, each suited to a different kind of teenager. Both share the same standards - trained Teamers, full supervision, full-board accommodation, FELTOM-accredited teaching - but differ in atmosphere, age range, and accommodation style.

St. Julian's - For the Social, Outgoing Teen. St. Julian's is the most vibrant part of Malta. Restaurants, shops, and entertainment fill every street. The SPRACHCAFFE Club Village sits right at the center of it all. The campus has a pool, beach volleyball court, restaurant, bar, games room, and a shaded garden. Teens stay in double or triple rooms on campus. A homestay with a local family is also available. The sea is a five-minute walk away. This location suits teens aged 12 to 21. It's perfect for confident teens who do well in a lively, energetic setting.

St. Paul's Bay - For the Younger or Quieter Teen. St. Paul's Bay sits on the northern coast of Malta. It is quieter, more scenic, and has a beautiful proximity to the sea. Picturesque beaches and natural beauty define the area. The Malta National Aquarium is nearby. This location runs only for teens aged 12 to 17. There are no older students in the programme. Accommodation is in a supervised house with full board. St. Paul's Bay is a strong choice for younger or less experienced travelers. The calmer setting helps them settle in faster and feel safe from day one.

Both campuses share the same SPRACHCAFFE standards. Licensed Teamers, full supervision, and a packed leisure programme are present at both. The English course runs at levels A1 to C1 in St. Julian's and A1 to B2 in St. Paul's Bay. If you are still unsure which suits your teen better, our team is happy to help you decide.

We traveled as a group of students with teachers for 1 week. We were extremely satisfied with the quality of lessons, the equipment of the school and the furnishings of the rooms. The campus is large, with nice gardens and a large swimming pool, which students have always enjoyed using. The food was in the form of buffet and there was always a good selection of food. During our stay, we had activities that were always excellently organized and the school staff was always available and willing to help with everything. Overall, we rate the stay in Malta and the Sprachcaffe school as excellent, and we are definitely going to come back. Thank you for your great service and we wish you many happy students.

Most effective English camps in Malta

On arrival, every student takes a short placement test that assigns them to the right group from day one. Classes are kept small - typically grouped by CEFR level and by similar age - with qualified, experienced teachers of young learners. Lessons cover all four core skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

CourseLessons per weekHours per week
Standard20 lessons of 45 minutes15 hours
Intensive30 lessons of 45 minutes22.5 hours

All course materials are provided on loan. At the end of the programme, students receive a SPRACHCAFFE certificate confirming the CEFR level studied and the number of lessons completed.

Cambridge Assessment English estimates that learners typically need around 200 hours of guided learning to progress from one CEFR level to the next. For a teenager, two to four weeks of intensive summer immersion in Malta - combining 30 lessons per week with full English exposure outside the classroom - typically delivers measurable movement of half a CEFR level for beginners and one full level for intermediate students.

Malta Beyond the Classroom

Evening karaoke, morning beach volleyball, and Saturday trips to Valletta make life at SPRACHCAFFE's summer camp in St. Julian's, Malta lively and immersive.

English is spoken everywhere, since Malta is one of the few European countries where it is an official language alongside Maltese. You use it not only in class, but also to eat, explore, and connect with friends from around the world.

The camp includes a full leisure programme, with options for even more activities through the Intensive Leisure Programme. Days can include football, zumba, pool time, or beach volleyball, while evenings bring welcome parties, treasure hunts, and photo contests.

Excursions take you to highlights like Valletta, Mdina, and Sliema. Juniors are supported by trained Teamers, with 24-hour reception, airport transfers, and full board included.

Accommodation is on or near campus, with Club Village as the most popular option and Maltese homestays also available. Vegetarian and gluten-free meals can be arranged on request.

Malta isn't just a great choice on paper - the numbers show that families across Europe agree. In 2024, 80,946 foreign students attended English courses at Malta's 33 licensed ELT schools (NSO Malta). Nearly half of them were under 18: 28.1% were aged 15 and under, and a further 22.0% were 16 or 17. So when your teen joins a SPRACHCAFFE camp, they step into a setting built around their age group - not tagging along in an adult programme.

And they won't be the only one far from home. Most students came from Italy (24.9%), France (10.3%) and Germany (10.1%) - exactly the mix of nationalities that turns a summer course into a circle of friends from right across Europe.

The SPRACHCAFFE Malta junior programme is open to ages 12 to 17. All nationalities are welcome. You are placed in a class with peers of a similar age and English level. This creates a comfortable, age-appropriate environment from day one. At St. Julian's the programme runs for ages 12 to 21. At St. Paul's Bay it runs exclusively for ages 12 to 17. If you are unsure which location suits you better, our team is happy to advise before you book.

Free Wi-Fi runs throughout the school and the residence, so your child can message you whenever they want, and we share regular updates with parents during the stay - photos, news, and a direct line to the team if you ever have a question.

From the moment they land, yes. A SPRACHCAFFE teamer meets your child at the airport and stays with them right up to the residence door - and for younger or first-time travellers, we can even arrange a flight companion to fly with them from departure to arrival. Our trained teamers are with the group throughout the day, in lessons, on excursions, at meals, and in the evenings, with a 1:15 ratio and a 24/7 emergency contact for parents and students alike. We've spent over 40 years getting this right, so you can relax and they can thrive.

You arrive on Sunday. Airport transfers can bring you directly to the campus. On your first morning, you take a short placement test to determine your English level. The rest of the day is an orientation. You meet your Teamers, explore the campus, and get to know the area around you. The evening ends with a welcome party. By day two, the full programme is underway and the adventure has properly begun.

Yes. At the end of your English course, you receive a SPRACHCAFFE certificate. It confirms the language level you studied and the number of lessons you completed. The certificate is a genuine record of your achievement over the summer. It is useful for school applications, university admissions, and future employers who want to see that you invested your time in real language learning. Certificates are issued before your departure.

Visa rules depend on nationality.

  • EU, EEA, and Swiss citizens can enter Malta freely with a valid ID card or passport. No visa is required.
  • Visa-exempt non-EU nationals (including UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, and most Latin American countries) can enter Malta visa-free under Schengen rules for up to 90 days within any 180-day period - sufficient for the entire summer camp.
  • Other non-EU nationals may need a Schengen short-stay visa, applied for at the nearest Maltese consulate.

SPRACHCAFFE provides enrolment confirmation and supporting documentation for visa applications where required.

More than you'd expect, and all in one price. The package covers tuition, course materials, accommodation, meals, airport transfers, 24/7 support, and a full activity programme of beach days, boat trips, sports tournaments, themed evenings, and city tours. Lessons run Monday to Friday in small groups with teachers who know how to keep teenagers engaged - open to every level from complete beginners to confident speakers, with a short placement test on the first morning. The rest of the day is where the real magic happens: by the second week, your child isn't translating in their head anymore - they're just talking, laughing, and making friends from a dozen different countries.
