Back Strength You Can Take Home

Rather than a long workout plan, you leave with a handful of simple exercises: a couple to wake up your body in the morning and a few more to reset after long periods of sitting. They take only minutes, need no equipment and are realistic enough to stick with. Over the week, you also learn how posture, strength, flexibility and stress affect each other, so you can spot the habits that strain your back and change them.

From Morning Pilates to Afternoon Mobility

Each day is designed to help your body feel lighter, stronger and more balanced. You start with a Pilates session that gently wakes up your core and improves your posture. Exercises are introduced one by one, with clear instructions and enough time to get each movement right before moving on. Over the week, you’ll notice how small adjustments, like the position of your pelvis or the way you breathe, can make a big difference to how your back feels.

Later in the day, the focus shifts to mobility, stretching and functional training that prepares your body for everyday movements such as lifting, bending and sitting for long periods. Short explanations help you understand what’s happening in your body, so you can carry on practising with confidence at home. The sessions are held in simple, friendly English, and with 25 lessons a week, you’ll still have plenty of time to explore Rabat at your own pace.

Your Pilates Trainer in Morocco

Felicija Baćak leads Pilates & Healthy Back in Rabat. She is a certified medical fitness trainer (A licence) and Pilates instructor with a strong background in holistic health promotion. She is known for turning science-based knowledge into exercises people actually use, and she accompanies each group throughout the whole week.

“I don’t hand out training plans that end up in a drawer after two weeks. I show you what you can actually use at your desk on Monday morning. The first exercise I teach every group is consciously straightening up from the pelvis. It takes ten seconds and changes the way you sit all day.”

Rabat: A Relaxed Base for Your Pilates Week

Rabat combines the energy of a capital city with a surprisingly calm and easy-going atmosphere. Plenty of green spaces and a modern tram make it simple to get around, while the old town and the Kasbah of the Udayas invite you to slow down and explore. After your sessions, you can stretch your legs with a walk along the Bouregreg River, enjoy the sea breeze on the Atlantic coast or unwind in one of the city’s many cafés. It’s the right mix of activity and rest, making Rabat a great choice for a wellness retreat in Morocco.

Who It's For

This retreat is for anyone who spends a lot of time sitting, deals with one-sided strain at work or at home, or knows the feeling of back pain from sitting all too well. No Pilates experience is needed: every exercise is adapted to your level. If you already practise Pilates, you’ll use the week to refine your breathing, pelvic position and precision. Join on your own or with a friend, as the small group makes it easy to connect.

FAQ

Absolutely. The retreat starts with the fundamentals, so you'll learn the basic principles and movements before building on them. Your trainer shows each exercise, gives you individual feedback and offers easier or more challenging variations depending on your level. If you already practise Pilates, you can use the week to fine-tune your technique.

The sessions are challenging but never exhausting. Pilates works with slow, controlled movements, so you build strength without putting strain on your joints. It's normal to feel some muscles you didn't know you had during the first few days. Every exercise can be made easier, and you're always welcome to take a break.

Yes, many participants come on their own. Training together in a small group creates a friendly atmosphere from the very first session, and it's easy to find company for a walk through the medina or a coffee after class.

Rabat has its own airport, Rabat-Salé, with direct flights from several European cities. Alternatively, you can fly to Casablanca and continue to Rabat by train in around one to one and a half hours. Once you're in the city, the tram and taxis make it easy to get around.

Pilates focuses on the deep core muscles that stabilise your spine and works with controlled, repeated movements. Yoga places more emphasis on breathing, mindfulness and stress relief. If your main concern is tension from sitting, Pilates is a good place to start. If you'd rather focus on stress and relaxation, our Yoga and Mindfulness retreat in Morocco may suit you better.

A basic level is enough. Every movement is demonstrated before you try it, and the theory uses simple, everyday examples. Questions are always welcome, and the small group makes it easy to ask.
