Study French in France

Between Monaco and Cannes, Nice makes learning French feel less like study and more like one of your best decisions. The Promenade des Anglais hugs the sea, while terracotta alleyways, the Cours Saleya flower market, and small bistros turn every lunch into a real language moment.

France's 5th-largest city and the cultural capital of the Côte d'Azur, Nice sits in the world's most-visited country (around 100 million international visitors in 2024, UN Tourism).

We make sure you experience the city, not just observe it. Excursions to Monaco (20 minutes by train), the Musée Matisse, beach volleyball, and crêpe evenings fill your weeks — and shared with fellow students, the friendships are as international as the classroom.

How long does it take to learn French?

French requiring approximately 600 to 750 classroom hours to reach professional working proficiency (CEFR B2-C1). Standard progression milestones:

Communication is key

Nice is France's 5th-largest city with around 340,000 residents, and the cultural and commercial capital of the Côte d'Azur. According to UN Tourism (UNWTO), France is the world's most-visited country (approximately 100 million international visitors in 2024); the Côte d'Azur is among its most popular regions for international tourism and study.

We make sure you experience the city, not just observe it. Excursions to Monaco (20 minutes by train), the Musée Matisse, beach volleyball, bowling, and crêpe evenings fill your weeks with variety — and because you share them with fellow students, the friendships you build are as international as the classroom.

Nice is also perfectly placed for wider travel. Florence (5 hours by train), Barcelona (8 hours), and Geneva (5 hours) are all reachable from Nice — making it a natural base for combining your language stay with European exploration. Nice Côte d'Azur Airport is France's third-busiest airport, with direct flights to over 100 destinations across Europe and beyond.

Why a French course in Nice?

Beyond the language itself, French opens substantive opportunities:

  • Erasmus+ mobility across the European Union for students
  • Career opportunities in diplomacy, international institutions (UN, NATO, EU, UNESCO, OECD), luxury industries (fashion, gastronomy), and Francophone Africa - a rapidly growing economic region
  • Cognitive benefits - peer-reviewed research consistently associates bilingualism with enhanced executive function (Bialystok, Craik & Luk, 2012, Trends in Cognitive Sciences)
  • Lifetime-valid certifications - DELF and DALF, issued by France Éducation international, never expire (unlike IELTS, TOEFL, TCF, or TEF, which expire after 2 years)
  • Gateway to other Romance languages - French shares around 75% of vocabulary with Italian and 65% with Spanish
